You may be asking, "What is a Piebald and why are you asking me to sign a petition to save them?" A Piebald is simply a pattern on a Dachshund. I am asking you to sign the petition below because the DCA (Dachshund Club of America) and the AKC (American Kennel Club) has voted to dismiss this pattern from competition and I strongly feel this reflects discrimination to the Dachshund breed. Unlike the other 3 coat varieties: (1) Smooth, (2) Longhaired, and (3) Wirehaired (which, by the way, come in a variety of patterns accepted by the DCA and AKC), the Conformation judges for the DCA and AKC assert that "Any Dachshund displaying white anywhere other than on the chest is NOT acceptable." In other words, those Dachshunds displaying areas of white, such as the Piebald and double-dapple patterns, have been removed from the standard and dismissed from competing in the show ring. Ah, pshaw! A Piebald is a pattern, just like the sables, creams, two-colored Dachshunds, and just like the dapples! They're patterns ~~ simple as that! So, please sign the 'Petition to Save the Piebalds' and in so doing, you become part of a dedicated network of Dachshund owners and/or breeders who want to broadcast to the DCA and AKC that we want the Piebald pattern to be included in the Dachshund Standard. Sign the petition. I did becoming the #163 signor of the petition! Don't wait and thank you for your support!
